Aya·Waken
Safety Information

Care comes first.

Honest disclosure during intake is how we keep this work safe. Please read carefully, and tell us everything that matters.

Ayahuasca is a powerful sacrament. We screen with care, and we ask the same care of you in return: complete honesty about your health, your history, and the medications you take. Everything you share is held in confidence and used only to keep you safe.

Health considerations

Participation may not be appropriate for everyone. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, and may not be appropriate for those with certain cardiovascular, neurological, liver, kidney, or other significant health conditions.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding — not appropriate
  • Cardiovascular, neurological, liver, or kidney conditions — may be disqualifying
  • Other significant health conditions — discussed case by case at intake

Medications

Full disclosure of prescription medications and important health considerations is required during intake. Some medications interact dangerously with ayahuasca and require a careful, supervised washout discussed well in advance.

Important. Certain antidepressants (including SSRIs and SNRIs) and other medications can interact seriously with ayahuasca. Never stop or change a prescribed medication without speaking with your healthcare provider. Any changes must be planned in advance, with medical guidance, and disclosed to us during intake.

Before you come

  • Arrive well-rested, hydrated, and nourished
  • Avoid alcohol, recreational substances, and non-essential intoxicants beforehand
  • Bring any questions or concerns to us directly — we would always rather you ask
